Founders of FGDT: "A Life well lived, A legacy will live on"
In 1962, Apostle Green formed the Free Gospel Church of the Apostles' Doctrine, with divisions including the Defense of the Gospel Ministries, Evergreen Productions, Free Gospel Bible Book Store, Free Gospel Recreational Asociation, and Free Gospel Publications, while located at 51st and E Streets, S.E., Washington, D.C. Free Gospel stands proud and honored to be one of the first mega ministries in the Washington Metropolitan area to own and operate a shopping center.
Apostle Ralph E. Green set-up and traveled worldwide and established ministries in several countries as far away as Africa, Philippines, etc. The other affiliate Free Gospel Churches are: Way of Truth Free Gospel, Wallace, North Carolina (Bishop Curtis West); Free Gospel Church of Culpeper, Culpeper, Virginia (Bishop Harold Smith); Free Gospel Church of Bryans Road, Bryans Road, Maryland (Bishop James Briscoe); Restoration Free Gospel Church, Lexington Park, Maryland (Bishop John Briscoe); formerly Free Gospel Church of King George, King George, Virginia.
Under his leadership, Apostle Green had a great desire for the Saints of God to be educated. He established the Open Bible Institute for Christian Apologetics (O.B.I.C.A.). Through O.B.I.C.A., hundreds of students have graduated and continue to do so with Associates, Bachelors and Graduate level degrees. As the voice of deliverane, Apostle Ralph E. green ministered under the anointing of the Holy Ghost for over 56 years. These yesrs of ministry have been one of constant revival. Over 50,000 people have been baptized in Jesus name, thousands filled with the Holy Ghost, and countless testimonies and witnesses of healings and miraculous deliverance.
As a trailblazer in November 2004, he appointed Dr. Shirley M. Green, to be the Senior Pastor of Free Gospel Deliverance Temple. Prior to this date, women were not permitted to go forth in ministry; however, this epic moment sanctioned women to be ordained. On August 19, 2011 for the first time in the history of Free Gospel, four women servants were ordained as Ministers of the Gospel. Moments of joy amd celebration continued on Sunday, August 16, 2015 when Dr. Antoinette Green-Snow was isntalled as Executive Pastor. The late Shirley M. Dr. Green ministered at women's conferences, retreats, workshops, banquests, and luncheons, and counseled women, locally, nationally, and internationally. She was excited about fulfilling her unique purpose towards the edification of the Body of Christ, especially God's purpose and vision for the women of God.
